Mini Chewbacca 🪐 amigurumi free pattern

You have already seen the free patterns to make Yoda, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. Today I want to share with you the one to make Han’s best friend, a character who makes it so easy to love him even if we don’t understand anything that he says: the mini Chewbacca amigurumi free pattern 😂

Materials needed:

Domigurumi Sport cotton in brown (better if you have two shades and make the hair and the bag darker) and some black and grey for the embroidery
2 mm crochet hook
yarn needle
fiberfill

I used Domigurumi Sport cotton with a 2 mm crochet hook, but remember that you can use the cotton you prefer or already have, you just need to match it with the right hook size!

Let’s start making the legs, then join them and keep working to make body and head.

In brown

5 sc in a magic ring

2-6. 5 sc (5 ROUNDS)
Fasten off the first leg and weave in the yarn tail. Repeat the instructions to make the second leg, then keep on working without fastening off. Ch 4 and make 1 sc in any st of the first leg (it will be the first st of the next round).

NB: remember that it’s better to keep the stitch where you fastened off close to the chain because it’s not invisible.

5 sc around the first leg, 4 sc in the chains, 5 sc around the second leg, 4 sc on the other side of the chain (18)

Fasten off leaving a yarn tail. Using the yarn needle weave the tail through the front loops of the 6 remaining stitches and pull it tight to close. Weave in the yarn tail. Use black yarn to embroider the eyes and the nose.
Using brown yarn embroider the hair, weaving the yarn in some point on the forehead and pulling it out on the back, until you have reached the right volume. There’s no right way to do it, if you’re good at sewing you can make a better work than mine 🤭

Arms

In brown

4 sc in a magic ring

2-6. 4 sc (5 ROUNDS)
Fasten off leaving a yarn tail to sew the arms to the body.

Bag

In brown

Ch 19 in total but for now we work only in the first 4 of them.
1. 3 sc, ch 1 and turn
2-3. 3 sc, ch 1 and turn (2 ROUNDS)
4. 3 sc
Ch 1 and without turning your work make sc all around the bag, until you reach the 14 chains that you skipped. Make 14 slst along the chain, put the bag on Chewbacca and make one slst in the first sc to lock the bag on. Fasten off and weave in the yarn tail.
Using grey yarn embroider the bag and if needed sew it in position so that it doesn’t get off.

Your Chewbacca is ready!
